Has Agents Of Shield Been Knocked Out Of MCU Continuity?

Agents Of Shield was a show that gained a decent-sized following during its run. As far as can be remembered it was always meant to be a canon tie-in to the MCU. It seems like that may no longer be the case, or at least, that’s what Marvel seems to want. Has Agents Of Shield been knocked out of MCU continuity?

Tuesday afternoon Marvel did the unthinkable for fans of Agents Of Shield. They changed the location of the show on their streaming service, Disney+. Why is this a problem you may be asking? Well, that’s because they moved it over to their “Marvel Legacy Movies And Series Section”. That doesn’t bode well for folks hoping that Agents Of Shield will be added back into the MCU.

If you take a look at the other films and shows in that section you’ll understand exactly why it’s concerning for the show’s continuity future. It includes things like the FOX X-Men films, the Fantastic Four films, and Hulu‘s The Runaways. None of those shows fit into the MCU at all. Period.

If you’re wondering why you can’t find this on Disney+ for yourself, it’s probably because you’re in the United States. In the U.S Agents Of Shield is still streaming on Netflix and has not yet made the jump to Disney+. Give it some time for the contract to end and I’m pretty damn sure you’ll see the show pop up in Disney+ stateside too.

Even if the show is part of the continuity it’s possible we might never see it referenced again. It feels like Marvel Studios has been distancing themselves from the series for quite some time. The same could be said for the Netflix properties, and Marvel hasn’t announced anything since regaining the rights to those characters. Fans are hopeful though and eagerly awaiting news on their favorite Netflix characters. This includes Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher.
