The Walking Dead: Season 11 Doing Something Never Done Before On Show! “First Episode Is Crazy”

The Walking Dead has its final season coming up, and fans can’t wait. The final season will feature a whopping 24 episodes and executive producer Scott Gimple promises that the “first episode is crazy”. It also sounds like The Walking Dead season 11 is doing something never done before on the show!

The first episode of the final season will actually be a super-sized two-part premiere. The episode is even being written by showrunner Angela Kang herself. This will be the biggest season of The Walking Dead in the show’s history. The season has been promised to be extra dark and brutal.

The Walking Dead aired 6 extra episodes for its tenth season, which had to be scaled down in scope because of the pandemic. The Walking Dead season 11 will bring back the usual scope of what we can expect from the biggest zombie show.

“The first episode is crazy. I cannot wait for people to see it,” Gimple teased during an appearance on TWDUniverse on Twitch. “It’s big. It’s very, very big. I don’t want to say too much, but it’s stuff we have never seen on the show. When Angela, the writer, started talking about it, I immediately got excited. It’s something we have not yet seen on the show. After the amount of episodes we’ve done” — 153 episodes so far — “that’s a pretty cool thing,”

Season 11 is going to find all of our favorite characters doing their best after the end of The Whisperer War. In the wake of the war, their good friend Maggie returns and now has to live in the same place her husband’s killer. That’s right, Maggie and Negan are living in the same community. The season 10 finale promises a confrontation between the two is on the way.

Meanwhile, some of our characters have stumbled onto The Commonwealth. This is a community unlike any that we’ve seen in The Walking Dead and their soldiers look more like Stormtroopers than anything. Their appearance was teased in The Walking Dead season 11 teaser trailer.

The final season of The Walking Dead will most likely air in three groups of eight episodes. The show will return at first with “eight action-packed episodes that will feature the massive scope and scale fans have come to expect from TWD Universe.”

“Coming off of the six additional episodes for Season 10, which focused on smaller, character-driven stories, we’re excited to kick off Season 11 bigger than ever,” Angela Kang said about the show returning. “The stakes will be high — we’ll see more zombies, tons of action, intriguing new stories, never-before-seen locations and our groups together in one community for the first time, trying to rebuild what the Whisperers took from them.”

The Walking Dead will return for its 24 episode season in August. August 25 to be precise, so catch it on AMC!
